WOW, another record day of fundraising for the Semper Fi Fund, almost $22,000.00 thanks to our generous sponsors and all those who brought their classic cars and purchased all those opportunity drawing tickets. This year's Color Guard was courtesy of Ist Sgt Ellington from the USMC recruiting station in Pasadena. And what a treat we had with R. S.'s blue grass band. They had us tapping our feet all day. They can be seen most Saturdays at L.A.'s Farmers Market. Our regular D.J., Colin Day kept the Rock and Roll coming in between sets.
There were 180 cars in the show field, highlighted by a show of force by the So California Challengers who brought 25 of their finest. Also highly represented were the Early Birds, Cruzin 50's, LA Roadsters and the Custom Safari Club. Our prize tables were adorned by many items donated by the Challengers and the McMahon group. Again, many thanks for the special donations by the L A Roadsters, Street Rods Unlimited, American Legion Post 46, Culver City and American Legion Riders Chapter 716.
And let's hear it for Randy Kerdoon, KNX sports announcer who really knows how to get the crowd charged up. And a big hand for our group of volunteers without who the show could not go on. Again, thanks to Wyotech for the use of their fine facility.
As usual the Long Beach Fire Department was there to hold down the smoke.
